The Setral ®EPL additive system (Extreme Pressure Lubricant) notably increases the high-load capacity of mixed and boundary friction. As a result of its thermochemical characteristics, it is able to create plastic deformations on the surface and therefore to profile roughness peaks with almost no wear, thus a successful “repair” of micro-/ pittings due to the scarring of the fringe area is doable. In the mixed friction system, gears with the EPL additive system reach a lubrication which is similar to the elastohydrodynamic lubrication and consequently decreases the energy demand.
